Classical Tours - A sample of Jordan

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Amman

Your English speaking driver will meet you in the Arrival's Hall of Queen Alia International Airport and transfer you direct to your hotel. (Note: Morning arrivals will include a City Tour) Overnight: Amman

Day 2: Madaba - Mt Nebo - Dead Sea - Wadi Mujib & Dana Reserve (sightseeing) - Shobak - Petra

Travel to Madaba, known for the detailed mosaic map discovered on the floor of the church which shows all major biblical sites from Lebanon to Egypt, especially Jerusalem and the Holy Land. We will drive along the Kings' Highway to our next stop at Mt. Nebo. Here God showed Moses the Promised Land before he died. From the mountaintop view the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Jericho, and the Mountains of Jerusalem. Descend to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, some 420 metres below sea level. Enjoy floating on the surface of the buoyant waters, seven times saltier than regular seawater. A buffet lunch is provided at the hotel. In the afternoon, head south along the Dead Sea Highway. Stop to view the lower section of the Wadi Mujib Canyon, before driving up into the mountains.

Have cameras ready as the scenery is magnificent at every turn in the road. At the top we will stop above the Dana Nature Reserve to enjoy the scenery and take photos. A short time later we will arrive at Shobak Castle, the famous Crusader stronghold built by King Baldwin I. of Jerusalem. It is here that Saladin fought against King Richard the Lion Heart. Proceed to Petra for overnight.

Day 3: Petra Tour

Breakfast, then an early morning visit to one of the 7 Wonders of the New World, the rose red city of Petra. With your professional English speaking guide walk through the 1.2km-long Siq before reaching the magnificent Treasury. Explore the Street of Facades, Roman Theatre, Royal Tombs, Colonnaded Street, Byzantine Church, Winged Lion's Temple, Qasr al Bint, and the Petra Museum where your guided tour will conclude. On your own, climb to the Monastery and/or High Place of Sacrifice. Overnight Petra

Day 4: Petra - Little Petra - Wadi Rum

This morning we head to Little Petra where the caravans used to rest before entering Petra. Little Petra, situated on a fertile plain, provided accommodation and eateries for the cameleers. We then head to southern Jordan and the beautiful desert valley of Wadi Rum, made famous by T E Lawrence. Wadi Rum is a protected area of dramatic desert wilderness and you will see it all in a 3 hour 4WD Jeep Tour. Before your tour begins, freshen up at your desert campsite and have a bbq lunch. Then climb into the back of your jeep for an exciting tour through narrow canyons and across the vast tracks of red sand. Along the way see ancient inscriptions, extraordinarily coloured sand dunes and majestic mountains before ending the tour back at your desert campsite.
 
You will have free time to hike on your own to experience the grandeur and silence of this magnificent desert. Watch the sun set before enjoying a traditional Jordanian dinner (zarb) under the stars.
Overnight in Wadi Rum - Camping. .

Day 5: Wadi Rum - Amman (Departure)

After breakfast, depart Wadi Rum and head to Amman for departure flight either late afternoon or evening.
